HOLYCHILD – Money All Around

Dancing Astronaut – EDM, trap, techno, deep house, dubstep

Welp, we guess pop trap is a thing now. Here’s HOLYCHILD, the LA-based duo whose latest original “Money All Around” carves an interesting niche for the self proclaimed ‘brat pop’ stars. There’s definitely something to the distinction; the two have a knack for crafting some simple and catchy electronica. An easily recited top line plus some buzzing electro with the subtlest of trap touches make HOLYCHILD’s latest their most catchy and radio-facing single to date.

Watch Axwell Ʌ Ingrosso’s Full Headline Set From Coachella 2015

Over back-to-back Saturday nights, Axwell Ʌ Ingrosso closed Coachella’s Outdoor Theater in a blitz of pyrotechnics, lasers and heavy drops. (Not to mention those branded white leather jackets.) Now you can watch how their weekend two set went down via the duo’s official YouTube channel.

The Swedes started the night off with the same chant used at this year’s Ultra Music Festival, then powered through a set of new tracks, Swedish House Mafia anthems and high-energy reworks of familiar radio hits.

“We turned the motherfucking desert into a motherfucking rave,” they boomed on the mic, after piecing together crowd-pleasers like Tove Lo’s new hangover pop hit “Habits (Stay High),” the Beastie Boys classic “Sabotage” (on hyper-speed), and Calvin Harris’s still-hot summer anthem, “Outside.”

Then, before torpedoing into their hit, “Can’t Hold Us Down,” Axwell addressed the crowd: “I want to say something…there [are] a lot of people in this world that think that the music you came here to see and the music that we play is not right. Some people think that it’s not clean or credible enough. Some people want to hold us down and they wanna hold you down. Are you gonna let them hold you down, Coachella?” (To that, the Coachella crowd of course screamed “NO!”)

Whether this was a clean-up comment aimed to bridge the gap between “them” and “us” after Ingrosso’s apparently-misrepresented New York Times quote last month, or just an innocent way to announce the next track, we don’t know. What we do know is that the rest of the night’s set kept up the momentum, as the duo brought out guest vocalists Salem al Fakir and Vincent Pontare on their brand-new track “Sun is Shining.” Check it all out below.
